Getting started with the Portuguese Flagship Program is simple — just take your first Portuguese course and you’re on your way.

Here’s how:

1. Get in touch with us. We’ll walk you through everything from there. Schedule a meeting with Dr. Bruno Sales →
2. Enroll in PORT 1110 when you register for classes. Already speak some Portuguese? Contact Dr. Sales at [email protected] to schedule a placement test.
3. Fill out our Registration Form.

The Portuguese Flagship Program is built for students who want more — and that ambition is exactly what makes it worth it. While getting started is easy, success in the program requires dedication to your academic and professional growth.

Advancing to the Capstone

As you progress through the program, outstanding students are selected to advance to the Capstone — the most intensive and rewarding phase of the Portuguese Flagship Program, culminating in your study abroad and internship experience in Brazil.

Selection is based on three criteria:

• Portuguese proficiency level — reaching the required proficiency levels in speaking, listening and reading
• Academic standing — a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Program standing — active engagement and good standing within the PFP community
